How do I add hal to a group chat?

Add hal's number to the thread like you'd add a friend — it works in iMessage and WhatsApp groups. Then say “hal” with what you need: “hal, where should we eat Friday?” Nobody else in the group has to sign up or install anything.

Will hal reply to everything in our group?

No. In a group, hal answers when someone says its name and otherwise stays out of the conversation. Tell it to be quiet and it goes quiet in that thread until someone asks it something.

Can hal book the restaurant or the tickets?

It does everything up to the booking: finds the places, checks for a table or the on-sale time, and hands the group a pre-filled link. One person taps it and books on their own account — hal never pays for anyone.

Is hal an app?

No. hal is a contact in your phone. There's nothing to install and no account to create — you text hal in iMessage or WhatsApp the way you'd text a person, and it texts back.

Is there a waitlist?

No. Send one text and hal replies. You can hand it something real in the first minute.

Will hal text me on its own?

Only when you've asked it to: a reminder you set, a watch you started, or a heads-up the group asked for. Reply STOP and hal sends nothing proactive until you say START.

Will hal do things without asking me?

hal does the legwork on its own — searching, comparing, checking hours, setting the reminders you asked for. It stops for your yes before anything that reaches another person, like texting someone for you. It never spends your money: for a table or a cart it hands you a pre-filled link and you tap to confirm on your own account.

Does hal read my email?

No. hal doesn't connect to your email. The one account you can connect is Google Calendar — it's optional, it's there so hal can see your day and add events when you ask, and you can disconnect it with one text.

What happens to my data?

It's never sold, never used for ads, and never used to train AI models. Text “forget me” and your profile, memories, reminders, and conversation history are permanently deleted. Reply STOP at any time and hal goes quiet.
